KIMOOWUN BEADS
Contemporary Métis Beadwork
Tansi / hello,
I am a two-spirited beadworker of Métis (Cree - Saulteaux) and mixed settler heritage.
Kimoowun Beads has been a rerooting practice. From coming back to my Métis heritage and teachings, to making a promise to commit to learning the Michif language. My beadwork practice has been a healing journey as well as a way to channel creative energy.
I raise my hands to my teachers, my Mom @metisbeadworkbysandyfraser and my Aunties @4sistersmetisbeadwork.
In Michif, "kimoowun" translates to "rain". I acknowledge that I currently reside, create and thrive on the gorgeous, ever rainy, unceded ancestral lands of the Squamish, Musqueam, and Tseileil-Waututh people - also known as Vancouver, BC.
Maarsii for visiting
